Qualifications for Emperor Tutors

  • Past Academic Tutoring Experience (highly recommended)

  • Passion for Teaching: Show a genuine interest and passion for helping others learn.

  • Academic Excellence: Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 or equivalent.

  • Subject Mastery: Demonstrate strong understanding and proficiency in the subject they intend to tutor.

  • Relevant Coursework: Have completed advanced or honors courses in the subject area.

  • References: Provide a reference who can attest to your character and professional qualities

  • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Patience and Empathy: Demonstrate patience and empathy in working with younger students.

  • Leadership Experience (recommended): Participate in leadership activities, such as student council or club leadership.

  • Extracurricular Involvement: Engage in extracurricular activities that show well-roundedness and commitment.

  • Reliability and Punctuality: Be dependable and consistently on time for tutoring sessions.

  • Parental Consent: Obtain parental consent to participate in the tutoring program.

 

Responsibilities of Emperor Tutors

  • Explain Concepts: Clarify and explain complex concepts in an understandable manner.

  • Prepare Lesson Plans: Develop structured lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs.

  • Assess Student Progress: Regularly assess and document students' academic progress.

  • Provide Homework Assistance: Help students with their homework and assignments.

  • Engage Students: Use engaging methods to maintain students’ interest and motivation.

  • Create a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.

  • Adapt Teaching Methods: Adjust teaching strategies based on individual student learning styles.

  • Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Provide regular updates to parents about their child's progress.

  • Maintain Professionalism with mentees and parents/guardians.

  • Set Academic Goals: Help students set and achieve realistic academic goals.

  • Encourage Critical Thinking: Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Develop Study Skills: Teach effective study habits and organizational skills.

Community Engagement Internship

Background Information:

  • The Community Engagement Internship is an opportunity for high school and college students to gain experience in marketing, project management, and business development. This position is unpaid with the chance for a recommendation/commendation letter and priority review for tutor applications.

 

Qualifications for Community Engagement Interns:

  • Current High School or College Student Residing in the Town of Interest

  • Time Commitment

    • Available 8-12 Hours per week over the summer starting in August 2024

    • Available 2-4 Hours per week during the school year

  • Consistent access to transportation

  • Leadership Experience: Held leadership positions in multiple school or community organizations

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Community Involvement: Active participation in community service or outreach programs.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to connect and build relationships with a diverse range of individuals.

  • Academic Excellence: Maintains a good academic standing, demonstrating responsibility and commitment.

  • Creative Thinking: Ability to come up with innovative ideas to engage the community.

  • Dependability: Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team setting.

  • Passion for Education: Enthusiasm for supporting educational initiatives and helping others succeed.

  • Public Speaking Skills: Comfortable speaking in front of groups and delivering presentations.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address challenges and find effective solutions.

  • Self-Motivated: Capable of working independently and taking initiative.

 

Responsibilities for Community Engagement Interns:

  • Outreach Activities: Conduct outreach activities to promote Emperor Tutoring in community centers.

  • Community Networking: Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, tutors, and parents.

  • Marketing Campaigns: Assist in developing and implementing marketing campaigns to increase awareness.

  • Student Engagement: Engage with potential tutors through social media and in-person methods

  • Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from students, parents, and community members to improve services.

  • Promotional Materials: Distribute flyers, posters, and other promotional materials in the community.

  • Collaboration: Work with Executive Directors to align community engagement strategies with company goals.

  • Reporting: Track and report on community engagement activities and their outcomes.
